We dreamed it. We did it.
During the Winter Performances of Mosa Ballet School, inclusive creations took to the stage for the first time, supported by our Quand on Danse programme. An important step, both artistically and humanely.
‘They didn't know it was impossible, so they did it’ - Mark Twain
People with disabilities danced alongside the school's young dancers. Their bodies, movements and gazes created a sensitive, open dance, inspired by the encounter.
In Brussels, the production brought together beneficiaries of the L'Essentiel day centre, guided by choreographer José Melgar.
In Liège, it was the beneficiaries of the Au Petit Bonheur residence who took to the stage, under the benevolent guidance of choreographer Sarah Masson.
The uniqueness of these projects also lay in the presence of students from Mosa Ballet School at the heart of the creations. Together, they danced without limits and without judgement, weaving a common language made up of gestures, listening and presence.
The emotion in the room was palpable. The audience watched these performances with deep attention, touched by the accuracy of what was being performed: bodies in harmony, presences asserting themselves, a stage becoming a place of connection.
But the intensity was just as strong on the beneficiaries' side. Many left the stage with shining eyes, filled with pride, joy and the feeling of having truly found their place. For them, this experience was much more than a performance: it was a moment of recognition, of surpassing themselves and of light, with stars in their eyes.
These Winter Performances also mark the launch of our project ‘Quand on Danse on Stage!’. From now on, Mosa Ballet School and our programme will bring vulnerable audiences onto the stage during performances, so that each show becomes a space where all stories and all backgrounds can find their place.
Through this project, Mosa Ballet School affirms a simple and strong conviction: dance is a language that brings people together, supports them and allows everyone to exist fully.
